ST-UPC Polarisation Maintaining terminations

At our UK facility, alker have perfected PM terminations to the ST connector in UPC polish

There are a number of options for this type of PM fibre, although the two main fibres alker hold on stock are Panda and Bowtie. These are available in wavelengths ranging from 450nm to 1550nm.

  • Return loss is typically 55dB<50dB for UPC
  • Extinction ratio is typically 28dB<23dB
  • Insertion loss is typically 0.1dB>0.3dB

Packaging for harsh environments

alker can also package your PM assembly, tailoring it to the operating environment to ensure optimised performance . The armouring available range from 250um (Primary) to 900um (Buffered) 1.6mm, 2mm and 3mm (Ruggedised).

Our next level of protection is Micro Armouring™ which has been designed for less forgiving environments such as outdoors, from 2mm and 3mm stainless steel armouring covered with a PVC jacket.
