Attenuators

alker can offer a number of styles of fibre optic attenuators. Fibre optic attenuators are used when you need to reduce or balance the power of light transmitted from one device to another. Attenuators are able to control the output of the fibre power level. This is vital so that the receiving equipment is not damaged due to high power.

Attenuator variations:

Fixed Inline Patchcord

This is a patchcord with the attenuation integral to the lead at any value in 0.5dB increments up to 30dB. Advantages are exceptional stability, reduced connections and bespoke dB value, including the facility to position the attenuator anywhere within the length of the patchcord.

Fixed Inline Female to Male Adaptor or Bullet

This is an adaptor with the attenuation within. Typical values are 1dB, 2dB, 3dB, 4dB, 5dB through to 10dB, 15dB, 20dB and 25dB with a wide range of connector styles such as FC, SC, ST, LC, MU and SMA. Advantages include a compact style.

Variable Optical Attenuators

These are similar to the inline patchcord, however they are ‘variable’ which allow for making an exact match to your system or network simply by turning the screw to increase or decrease the value. These attenuators are singlemode (SM), are available up to 20m long and can be terminated with almost any fibre optic connector.
